The Issues

Tax Relief for Georgia Families

Mitchell Horner is fighting to reduce the tax burden on Georgia families and ensure taxpayers keep more of their hard-earned money. He supports policies that promote responsible budgeting and limit unnecessary government spending.

In the Georgia House of Representatives, Mitchell championed HB 581, allowing a 1% sales tax option to offset property taxes, helping homeowners in Catoosa County see meaningful property tax relief.

I understand that outside groups are saying I lowered property taxes to near zero. Though that's not accurate, we have:

  • Passed a homestead exemption for seniors (Please vote, it's on the ballot!)

  • Passed local sales tax that, if adopted by local governments, could lower taxes to near zero in Catoosa County

I will continue to fight for lower property taxes for our residents.

Fiscal Oversight and Government Transparency

Mitchell believes that government should be accountable to the people it serves. He supports stronger oversight, transparency in spending, and the responsible management of taxpayer dollars.

In the legislature, he has worked on efforts to strengthen audits, improve fiscal oversight, and increase transparency in government spending.

Strong Education and Parental Choice

Mitchell is committed to ensuring the next generation receives an excellent education while protecting the rights of parents to choose what is best for their children. As a father of three children, including two in the public school system, he understands how important education policy is for families.

Mitchell promised to support school choice, and in 2024 Georgia achieved it.

Protecting Local Communities

Mitchell works to keep Northwest Georgia’s communities safe, strong, and thriving. That means encouraging responsible growth, supporting local institutions, and ensuring neighborhoods have what they need to succeed.

Responsible Government

Mitchell believes government should operate responsibly while efficiently serving the taxpayers. He supports policies that reduce waste, strengthen accountability, and ensure public institutions work for the people they serve.
